From day one, D & P Terminal has had a strong background in agriculture and elevator management. Chuck Potter had been in the grain commission business for 15 years as well as owned a few country elevators when he started D & P Terminal in 1959. The elevator containing 106 - 10,000 bushel bins was set up to purchase grains directly from country elevators in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Canada, and then sell directly to exporters.

The location of the terminal was excellent for transportation by both truck and rail. A spur from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway ran right through D & P terminal, and was also equipped with a rail scale. Developers also saw the location as a great connection point to Duluth and the Twin Cities, where the commodities could be shipped out on barges.
Today Tom Potter is the third generation owner of D & P Terminal and sixth generation in the farming and elevator business. Many of the things made D & P Terminal successful in the beginning, still hold strong today. We are independently owned, which allows us to be flexible and truly address our customers' needs. D & P Terminal has a great amount of storage, excellent rail handling skills and methods of transportation. We now also have a fully automated processing, handling and packaging system which allows for more consistency in the quality of your grain or seed and better efficiency overall.
Visit D & P Terminal or give us a call to see for yourself why we are the solution for all your grain storage, processing, packing, and transportation needs!
